What We Do

Site demolition is large-scale concrete removal — existing slabs, foundations, and pavement that need to come out to make room for new construction. DSI runs the equipment and crew needed to break, load, and haul off the existing concrete so the site is clear and ready for the next phase.

Everything operates as a single scope under one crew, which is faster and more predictable than splitting the work across subs. GCs working with DSI get a cleared site on schedule.

When You Need Site Demolition

Site demolition clears the ground for what comes next: removing old slabs, foundations, footings, parking lots, curbs, pads and underground concrete so grading and new construction can start. It is the first scope on most redevelopment and expansion projects, and on industrial sites where buildings are already gone but the concrete is not.

Speed matters because everything after it waits. DSI runs breaking, loading and hauling as one operation so the site clears on schedule.

How DSI Handles Site Demolition

  1. Walk the site with the GC to confirm limits, what stays, utility markings, access and haul routes.
  2. Saw cut perimeters where adjacent concrete or paving stays in place.
  3. Break slabs, foundations and paving with excavator-mounted hoe rams.
  4. Load and haul continuously with DSI Super 10 trucks so material doesn't stockpile.
  5. Leave the site clear and ready for grading.

What Affects the Cost of Site Demolition

Every job is quoted from its actual scope, fixed-price or hourly. The main factors are:

  • Total area and thickness of concrete and asphalt
  • Foundations, footings and anything below grade
  • Haul quantity and distance to recycling
  • Site access and staging room
  • Phasing around active operations or other trades

Safety & Compliance

Water suppression controls dust throughout breaking and loading, and haul traffic is managed with the GC to keep the site and streets safe.

Concrete and asphalt are hauled to recycling facilities whenever possible.

Common Questions
Do you coordinate with the GC on demolition phasing and site access?
Yes. DSI works directly under GC scheduling on sequencing, site access, and haul-off timing. We're not managing logistics separately — your GC stays in control of the site.
Can you saw cut and break on the same mobilization?
Yes. Saw cutting the perimeter before hydraulic breaking is standard practice on most site demolition scopes. One call, one crew, one schedule.
Do you handle dust suppression on site?
Yes. Water suppression is part of DSI's standard site demolition process. We confirm suppression procedures with your GC before mobilizing.
Do you remove the concrete or just break it?
Both. DSI handles breaking, loading, and haul-off as a complete scope. The site is clear — not just broken — when we leave.

Capabilities
CAT excavators with hydraulic hoe rams for large-scale breaking
Flat sawing for perimeter cuts and controlled removal
Coordinated loading and haul-off with DSI trucks
Large commercial and industrial site capacity
Selective demolition around existing utilities and structures
Direct GC coordination for phasing and site access
How much does site demolition cost?
It depends on the area and thickness of concrete and paving, what is below grade, haul quantities and site access. Send the site plan or address and we will quote breaking and hauling together.
How long does site demolition take?
It depends on the area and thickness, but running breaking and hauling together keeps it moving. We give you a duration with the quote and work to the GC's schedule.
Do you also do grading?
Our scope is demolition, concrete removal and haul-off. We leave the site clear and ready for your grading contractor.
