Public Works & Private Demolition Contractor

Licensed crews for private and municipal infrastructure.

DSI holds contractor license #936886 and DIR registration #1000002162, qualifying us for both private commercial work and public agency projects. We bid and perform work for municipalities, utility agencies, and public works departments across Southern California on roadway, infrastructure, and site projects.

Public works projects require stricter scheduling, documentation, and compliance — DSI crews are experienced in that environment. We maintain required certifications and document work to public agency standards.

Public Works Requirements in California

California public works projects carry requirements that private work doesn't. Contractors must be registered with the Department of Industrial Relations to bid or work on public works, pay prevailing wages, and submit certified payroll records. DSI is DIR-registered (#1000002162) and runs public works jobs to those requirements.

  • DIR contractor registration, required to bid and perform public works
  • Prevailing wage rates for each craft and county
  • Certified payroll records submitted electronically to the DIR
  • Apprenticeship requirements on qualifying projects
  • Agency documentation, daily reports and inspections

Public Agency Work

  • Sidewalk, curb, gutter and roadway concrete removal
  • Utility district saw cutting, core drilling and trenching
  • School, park and municipal building demolition
  • Public right-of-way and street work with traffic control by others or as required
  • Airport, port and transportation facility concrete work

Private Commercial Work

Most of DSI's work is private: general contractors, developers and owners building warehouses, retail, offices, healthcare and multifamily projects. For private jobs we offer the same self-performed scope, building demolition, site demolition, concrete cutting, core drilling, breaking and haul-off, billed fixed-price or hourly.

How DSI Runs Public Works Jobs

  1. Review the bid documents, specs, wage determinations and agency requirements.
  2. Submit the bid or subcontract proposal with the required DIR and license information.
  3. Coordinate submittals, schedules and safety plans with the prime contractor or agency.
  4. Perform the work with our own crews and equipment, with daily documentation.
  5. Submit certified payroll and closeout documents on time.
